Delicious Brownies are hard to come by - do you like them gooey or firm, and should they have nuts or no? So Many questions - but my answer is these. A little bit of crunchy, salty in all that sweetness, is just the thing for me, so I am happy to share the love. This recipe makes about 9 - I used a square tin, and they are fairly dense but not heavy.. Is that even a thing? Anyway, I hope you enjoy these - you may want to double the recipe, because 9 just doesn't seem like its enough does it?
Ingredients:
2 eggs
175g Dark Brown sugar
60g chocolate - chopped
130g butter
90g Dark Cacao powder - at least 70%
50g SR flour
pinch salt
salted pretzels
Icing sugar to dust for serving
Method:
Pre heat oven to 175C
Melt Butter and Chocolate together and mix to combine.
In a separate bowl, beat eggs and Sugar together until fluffy, then add in the melted chocolate butter mix and stir to combine.
Combine the Cacao and flour and salt then fold into the wet mix, and pour into a square, lined baking tray, and add pretzels to the top - like a tic tac toe board, and this will give you portion sizes when you cut.
Bake for 20-25mins - then turn oven off and let cool down before turning onto wire rack. Cut into squares - each square should have a pretzel in the centre, and dust lightly with icing sugar.
Serving suggestion - Drizzle salted caramel sauce over the top, and serve with vanilla ice cream for next level decadent dessert - or just have as it is. Especially delicious when served a little warm too!
Happy Baking
